July 9th - Untitled poem

It’s amazing
How relatives can hurt you more
Faster
And deeper
Than anyone else.
One phrase can be a dagger to the heart
One look,
One sigh,
One intentional word.
And boom,
You feel like a vulnerable child again.
Innocence lost
Taken away
By someone who should be protecting you
Nurturing you
Loving you.
Not destroying you,
And making you feel small
again.
