Song skirmish for February Album Writing Month (FAWM). This was a one hour skirmish (an hour and a half with editing, talking to friends I ran into where I was writing and sipping coffee, reading email, and WhatsApp with my brothers). So far, it is lyrics only.
The sun shines bright on an old Kentucky Home
Somewhere the deer and antelope might still roam
The sunshine could get taken away and make someone sad
Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue.
Here and now life is going up and down
Living the dream, living a nightmare,
Go to sleep every night, get up each morning
Traveling from day into night.
Just another day at work
Just another day retired
Just another day doing what you do
From day into night.
Just another day raising kids
Just another day at school.
Just another day on the street
Doing what they've got to do.
The earth keeps turning, gravity holding
We ride from light to dark
Hanging on as we spin
From day time into the night.
Just another day turning into night
As the sun sets to the west
Maybe a bottle of beer
a glass of wine,
a cup of tea
As you settle down
Into the night.
